Magic Pen™ HOLOS technology breakthrough

Intelligent Earth CEO David Cumming, today announced the completion of a 'breakthrough' piece of R&D resulting in the autocalibrating HOLOS sphere. The autocalibrating HOLOS technology is now available for a variety of applications in robotics, orientation and sensing devices/machinery, and, of course, Intelligent Earth's Magic Pen™.

The HOLOS breakthrough means no more calibration phase for the Magic Pen™, which is now a developed tool for a multitude of magical and intuitive applications. Cumming reported, 'We've been on the track of this final piece to the HOLOS™ jigsaw for a couple of years now. There were several contending software methodologies and some indepth R&D was required to sort out the best approach and refine it to the level of speed and accuracy required for HOLOS™. This work's complete and we're now working with our clients to bring HOLOS to market in several different products.'

Scottish Software Awards

Intelligent Earth have been nominated for the 'Best Emerging Software Business' in the Scottish Software Awards. The Scottish Software Awards are jointly run by the Sunday Times and Targeting Innovation Ltd.

Now in its fourth year, the Scottish Software Awards are established as a hallmark of success amongst the Scottish software industry.

The nomination for Intelligent Earth Ltd stated, 'Intelligent Earth Ltd's 'Intelligent Advertising' brand is now beginning marketing of its Minority Report style technology - AdSwitch®, AdNav® and AdWatch®. There is a lot of excitement about these groundbreaking products among the leaders in the advertising industry.

Intelligent Earth's 'Earth Games' and 'My Own Mobile' brands are just beginning to attract attention in the mobile and pc games market for their immersive games-enabling technology.  All in all, Intelligent Earth Ltd is one of the most exciting and dynamic Scottish companies to emerge in many years.'

Presidential visit to Intelligent Earth HQ

His Excellency Mr Valdas Adamkus, President of the Republic of Lithuania last week visited the Intelligent Earth HQ in the Alba Centre, in Livingston, outside Edinburgh. President Adamkus was a guest of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth, and stopped off at the Intelligent Earth headquarters where he met Intelligent Earth Managing Director David Cumming, Software Development Director Stefan Veeser, and Intelligent Earth's robot Doki™.

Happily Doki™ recognised President Adamkus correctly as a man and spoke to him briefly. The President was amused by Doki™ who addressed all the President's entourage correctly.

Dr Iain McKay joins Intelligent Earth as CTO.

Award winning scientist, Dr Iain McKay, has joined Intelligent Earth Ltd as Chief Technology Officer, leveraging his experience in academia and the software industry where he has managed large teams, and multi-million pound budgets. Iain is an experienced team leader and has had outstanding success with his R&D efforts in CRM, 3D / Virtual Reality Graphics, Avatars, Self-Service Kiosks, AI, Intelligent Agents, Multi-Modal User Interfaces, Natural Language Understanding, Biometrics and Speech and Language Processing.

Iain also brings thirteen years of experience in the application of Human Factors in the software design cycle (e.g. Usability Audits, Contextual Analysis, User-Centered-Design, Qualitative Analysis via Focus Groups, Experimental Design and Large-Scale Quantitative Analysis via User Trials and subsequent statistical Analysis of Variance techniques).

Iain is a Chartered Electrical Engineer and Member of the IEE (London). He has had many papers published and is also the principal author of the textbook "The Strategic Desktop - Usability for the Contact Centre Workstation" (ISBN:0-9541888-0-2)
