Magic Pen™ The Magic Pen™ system is an exciting new Human-Computer Interface (HCI), with software using a webcam to continually monitor the 3D trajectory and orientation of the Magic Pen™, as the user moves and turns the pen. The Pen operates in the field of view of a camera connected to software on a computer that calculates the exact position and orientation of the Pen in 3D space in real-time. Outstanding Performance The Magic Pen is a versatile device. Using low cost components, webcams, and artificial intelligence software, high accuracy is achieved and robustness against complex backgrounds, low light levels, and changing lighting conditions. The Magic Pen™ doesn't need any complex electronics, or touch sensitive surfaces. Applications of the Magic Pen™ Applications range, for example, from a 3D Mouse™, a virtual pen for writing on projected images, tft and plasma and other computer display screens, digital interactive television, a virtual pointer and web browser, gesture recognition, machinery control, games input devices, to web browsers and movement analysis applications. 'A Magical New Tool for Presentations' The Magic Pen can be used in business or educational presentations to 'write' or 'draw' virtually onto the projected or displayed virtual image. Using digital projectors, the Magic Pen™ allows powerpoint or other presentations to become more interactive, flexible and non-linear. The presenter can activate the virtual links embedded in the projected image using the pen, while facing the audience, browsing from slide to slide in a fashion identical to browsing between webpages. The Pen can also be used to browse web pages on a projected image. Powerpoint presentations may be stored online and accessed while standing at the presentation. At the same time, the presenter can annotate the projected or displayed images and save the annotations. Unleash Your Creativity The projected image/display can also be used as a white board, as the Magic Pen™ can draw very accurately onto the projector image. As the Magic Pen™ can operate as a mouse controller, any software package may be controlled and used normally on screen using the pen directly to activate menus and links. Drawing and painting applications are much more intuitive to use and creativity is unleashed as the artist 'paints' virtually directly on the projected image/display.
